Kanpo studied painting with Tōgai Kawakami and Shinkuro Kunisawa. He was a frequent prize winner for his paintings and twenty examples of his nihonga flower and (or) bird art are shown here. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Kanpo also published some of his art in picture books.
